We took a trip down to Kyoto and Osaka last month to shoot a few stories, and here’s the first one.
Dylan Cuthbert, president of Kyoto-based Q-Games, has worked on a lot of cutting edge games and game technology. We sat down with him to hear about how he ended up in Japan, and some of the projects he worked on in the early 90’s. For more info check the episode guide.
Update: Sorry about the sound problems some of you are experiencing. We’ll try to get that fixed.

Awesome trip down memory lane. Thanks!
Also love the chip-tunes you use. Are they for download anywhere?

Just saw this. Wow. I never imagined it was like that. My one problem was the very annoying high-pitched background noise, but that was it. It was so neat to see this guy talking and the old picture of him and then Miamoto. The story he told reminds me of the old Nintendo. Ah, the company of yore! I thought you guys did a very good job of putting this together.

Well done. I really enjoy watching these blogs: they seem to make me more aware of some of the otherwise unknown impacts that games have had on our culture. Keep them coming!
PS - Maven, if your reading this: the chiptunes he uses comes from an artist called 6955, and the only tracks available for download as of now are the 3 tracks used in the Nintendo Museum Pilot, which are available on his website, I believe (there’s a link on the main page).

Fascinating show. Excellent work. Anyone know where to track down “X” for Gameboy (JP) though?

Yeah, I wanna pick that up, too. Ebay? Maybe Play-asia.com, used (although I doubt it)…

I fixed the problem with the audio (I’ve got it on my computer as an AVI file).
If anyone knows how to get the “fixed” version to whomever runs this site post it here.

Looking forward to the other stories you shot while in Kyoto and Osaka last month. Hopefully we don’t have to wait 2 months before Episode 3 goes live.
